The Toronto Area Convention of Narcotics Anonymous XII (TACNA XII) is scheduled for February 12–14, 2027, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The official convention site confirms the event at The Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto, 1 Harbour Square, Toronto, ON M5J 1A6. TACNA
The waterfront location is a major advantage for a convention trip. The hotel sits beside Lake Ontario within walking distance of Harbourfront, Scotiabank Arena and Union Station, with the CN Tower, St. Lawrence Market, Old Town and several major attractions nearby. Marriott
Toronto is a huge city, but you do not need to experience all of it during TACNA XII. Staying close to the waterfront and choosing one or two larger outings can make the weekend feel like a real city trip without pulling your attention away from the convention.
Getting From Toronto Pearson Airport to Downtown
For travelers flying into Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), the UP Express is one of the simplest ways to reach downtown.
The train runs directly between Pearson and Union Station in about 28 minutes, with service generally every 15 minutes. Pearson's UP Express station is in Terminal 1, with the airport's Terminal Link connecting Terminal 3 passengers to the station. Up Express
Union Station is then close to the Westin Harbour Castle and provides connections to Toronto's TTC subway, streetcar and regional transit network.
The convention hotel itself does not provide an airport shuttle, so rail, taxi or rideshare are the practical options for most visitors arriving through Pearson. Marriott
Start With the Waterfront
One of the easiest things to do during TACNA XII is simply walk outside and explore Toronto's waterfront.
Destination Toronto describes Harbourfront as easily accessible on foot and by public transit. From Union Station, the 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina streetcars provide additional connections along Queen's Quay. Destination Toronto
In February, the waterfront has a very different feel from summer. You will likely trade patios and boats for winter views of Lake Ontario, cold air and indoor cultural stops.
That can actually work well around a convention schedule. A short waterfront walk gives you some space and fresh air without requiring a full afternoon away from the event.
Visit the CN Tower Area
The CN Tower is one of Toronto's defining landmarks and is only a short distance from the convention hotel.
The Westin Harbour Castle places both the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada within roughly a mile of the property. TACNA
If this is your first trip to Toronto, this is one of the easiest ways to add a recognizably Toronto experience to the weekend.
You can combine the CN Tower area with a walk through the surrounding downtown core rather than treating it as a separate cross-city excursion.
Eat Your Way Through St. Lawrence Market
For food, St. Lawrence Market is one of the strongest nearby choices.
The historic market sits at 93 Front Street East in Old Town and includes more than 120 merchants and farmers. Destination Toronto highlights everything from prepared foods and baked goods to seafood, produce and specialty vendors. Destination Toronto
The market is also known for Toronto's peameal bacon sandwich, which Destination Toronto identifies as one of the city's signature foods. Destination Toronto
That makes St. Lawrence Market particularly useful during TACNA. You can combine sightseeing and lunch in one place instead of spending valuable convention time traveling across the city for a meal.
Explore Old Town
The area around St. Lawrence Market is Toronto's historic Old Town, built around the original blocks that formed the city.
Destination Toronto highlights the neighborhood's Victorian architecture, food market, historic streets and proximity to the Distillery District. Destination Toronto
For a convention trip, Old Town is manageable. You can walk through the neighborhood, stop at the market, take a photo near the Gooderham Building and then continue toward the Distillery District if you have more time.
Walk the Distillery Historic District
The Distillery Historic District is another strong winter outing.
The pedestrian-only neighborhood occupies a collection of preserved Victorian industrial buildings, now filled with galleries, shops, cafés and restaurants. Destination Toronto recommends it as a place where visitors can combine dining, shopping and sightseeing in a relatively compact area. Destination Toronto
That is exactly the kind of destination that works around convention hours.
You do not need an elaborate plan. Walk the cobblestone streets, browse a few shops, grab coffee or dinner and head back when you're ready.
Make Winter Part of the Trip
February in Toronto is genuinely winter.
Environment and Climate Change Canada's 1991–2020 climate normals for Toronto show an average February temperature of about -2.7°C (27°F), with an average daytime high around 0.6°C (33°F) and average nighttime low around -6°C (21°F). Climate Data
That means packing for cold conditions rather than hoping for a mild weekend.
Bring a warm coat, gloves, a hat and footwear that handles slush or snow. Layers are especially useful because you'll be moving between cold streets, heated transit and indoor convention spaces.
Use Toronto's Indoor Attractions
Toronto is particularly well suited to winter travel because bad weather does not leave you without options.
Destination Toronto specifically promotes museums, cultural institutions and indoor attractions as major winter activities. Destination Toronto
That means you can make your sightseeing weather-dependent.
If Saturday is clear, walk the waterfront or Old Town. If snow or wind makes outdoor exploring unpleasant, shift to a museum, gallery, aquarium or indoor attraction.
That flexibility keeps sightseeing from becoming stressful.
Don't Overlook the TTC
Toronto's public transit system can save you from renting a car for a downtown-focused trip.
The convention hotel's proximity to Union Station gives you access to the TTC subway, while streetcars serve Harbourfront and surrounding neighborhoods. Marriott
For most of the destinations in this guide, walking plus transit is likely to be more convenient than repeatedly moving a car through downtown traffic and parking.
If you're arriving from Pearson and spending your entire trip downtown, a car may not add much value at all.
Find Food Without Leaving Downtown
Toronto is one of those cities where the hardest part of choosing dinner is narrowing down the options.
St. Lawrence Market alone gives you a broad mix of foods, while Old Town, the waterfront and the Distillery District all add restaurants within a relatively small area. Destination Toronto
For TACNA weekend, keep meals simple.
Pick restaurants in neighborhoods you're already visiting rather than traveling across Toronto solely for food. That leaves more time for the convention and for conversations with people you may only see once or twice a year.
Take a Short Winter Walk Along the Lake
If the weather is tolerable, spending even 20 or 30 minutes along Lake Ontario can be a nice break from convention rooms.
The Westin's waterfront setting means you don't need to schedule a separate trip to do it. Step outside, walk along the harbour, and head back when you've had enough February air.
It is a simple thing, but it can make the weekend feel much more connected to the city you're visiting.
Keep Recovery at the Center
Toronto can easily fill a week.
You could build entire days around museums, neighborhoods, markets, restaurants and major attractions. But you don't have to do that during TACNA XII.
A good convention weekend might include the waterfront, one downtown attraction, St. Lawrence Market and a meal somewhere interesting.
That still leaves room for meetings, workshops, fellowship and the conversations that brought everyone together.
Toronto should add to the convention trip—not turn it into a checklist.
If You Have an Extra Day
An extra day gives you more breathing room.
You could spend longer in Old Town and the Distillery District, visit one of Toronto's major museums, explore additional neighborhoods or simply slow down and enjoy downtown without watching the convention clock.
In February, letting the weather help choose your plans is a good strategy. Toronto has enough indoor and outdoor options that you can decide what makes sense when you actually arrive.
