SIRCNA XXXVIII Boise, Idaho, March 26–28, 2027: While You're in Town NA Travel Guide

The 38th Annual Southern Idaho Regional Convention of Narcotics Anonymous (SIRCNA XXXVIII) is scheduled for March 26–28, 2027, in the Boise area of Idaho. The official convention site confirms the event at The Riverside Hotel, and the Southern Idaho Region's official flyer gives the 2027 theme as “Livin' Clean: Finding Freedom in the Valley.” So. The Riverside Hotel sits along the Boise River at 2900 W. Chinden Boulevard, immediately beside the Boise River Greenbelt and only a short trip from downtown. That location gives convention travelers an unusually easy combination: recovery activities at the hotel, riverside walking right outside, and downtown Boise's restaurants, museums and cultural attractions only a few miles away. Getting to Boise

For travelers flying in, Boise Airport (BOI) is one of the easiest parts of this trip. Visit Boise places the airport about four miles and roughly ten minutes from downtown, while The Riverside Hotel lists itself about five miles from the airport. Visit Boise

The hotel currently offers an airport shuttle for guests, with arrangements made through the property. Check directly with the hotel closer to March 2027 to confirm the service and schedule before relying on it. The Riverside Hotel - Boise, ID

If you're driving, Boise is compact enough that having a car can be useful for foothill outings or exploring farther from downtown, but it isn't necessary for every part of convention weekend.

Step Outside Onto the Boise River Greenbelt

One of SIRCNA's biggest destination advantages is right outside the convention hotel.

The Boise River Greenbelt follows the Boise River through the city, connecting parks, neighborhoods and recreation areas. Visit Boise describes it as one of the city's signature outdoor experiences, with paved pathways used for walking, cycling and easy riverside exploring. Visit Boise

The Riverside Hotel specifically notes that it sits just steps from the Greenbelt. The Riverside Hotel - Boise, ID

That makes this about as convenient as sightseeing gets during an NA convention. You don't have to schedule an excursion. If you have 30 or 45 minutes between activities, you can simply go for a walk along the river.

For a recovery-centered weekend, that kind of built-in quiet space can be more useful than trying to squeeze in one major attraction after another.

Spend a Few Hours in Downtown Boise

Downtown Boise is compact and walkable, with more than 100 restaurants and a concentration of shops, cultural attractions and public spaces. Visit Boise specifically highlights the city's ability to combine downtown experiences with the Greenbelt and nearby outdoor recreation in a short trip. Visit Boise

From The Riverside, downtown is only about two miles away. The Riverside Hotel - Boise, ID

If you have a longer break during SIRCNA, downtown is a practical place to spend it. Walk around, grab lunch, see the Idaho State Capitol, explore a museum or just find a coffee shop before heading back.

You don't need to build a full itinerary around it.

Visit Boise's Basque Block

One of Boise's most distinctive cultural areas is the Basque Block downtown.

Boise has a significant Basque community, and the block preserves that history through the Basque Museum & Cultural Center, restaurants, the Basque Market and the Basque Center. Visit Boise describes it as a compact cultural district centered on Grove Street. Visit Boise

For visitors who have never encountered Idaho's Basque heritage, this is one attraction that feels genuinely specific to Boise rather than something you could find in almost any city.

It also works well around a convention schedule because you can combine the cultural stop with lunch or dinner downtown.

Try Local Food Without Overcomplicating the Weekend

Boise has a surprisingly deep food scene for a city its size.

Downtown alone has more than 100 restaurants, while the Greenbelt connects several additional dining areas and neighborhoods. Visit Boise

The Basque Block is an obvious place to try something connected to Boise's local history, while downtown has everything from cafés and casual restaurants to broader regional and international choices.

For SIRCNA weekend, a simple plan may work best: eat near wherever you already are.

If you're downtown, eat downtown. If you've taken a Greenbelt walk, choose something nearby. That leaves more room for fellowship instead of repeatedly driving across town.

See the Idaho State Capitol

The Idaho State Capitol sits in the heart of downtown Boise and is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.

Visit Boise highlights it among the city's major attractions and notes its unusual use of geothermal heat. Visit Boise

Even if you don't spend much time inside, the Capitol area makes an easy addition to a downtown walk and gives first-time visitors a recognizable Boise landmark to anchor the trip.

Choose a Museum if the Weather Turns

Late March in Idaho can produce a beautiful spring afternoon—or remind you that winter isn't far behind.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, Boise has several indoor cultural options. Visit Boise highlights the Boise Art Museum and Basque Museum & Cultural Center among the city's museum offerings. Visit Boise

That gives you an easy backup plan without traveling far from downtown.

What Late March Weather Can Look Like

SIRCNA falls right at the beginning of spring, so layers are the safest packing strategy.

National Weather Service climate normals for Boise around late March put typical daytime highs near the upper 50s°F and overnight lows around the mid-to-upper 30s°F. Freezing mornings are still possible, and Boise can see rain or even occasional late-season snow during March. National Weather Service

Bring comfortable walking shoes, a jacket and clothing you can layer.

A sunny afternoon may be perfect for the Greenbelt or foothills, while the next morning could feel much colder.

See Boise's Foothills if Conditions Are Good

One of Boise's defining visual features is the line of foothills rising immediately north and east of the city.

Spring can be a particularly attractive time there, with Visit Boise describing green foothills and trail access as part of the city's spring appeal. Visit Boise

If you've added extra time to the trip and weather and trail conditions are good, a short foothill walk can provide a completely different experience from downtown.

There's no need to turn it into a major hike. Pick something appropriate for your time and ability, check current trail conditions, and keep in mind that March surfaces can be muddy or seasonally sensitive.

Keep the Trip Simple

Boise is well suited to a convention weekend precisely because you don't have to work very hard to experience it.

The convention hotel is beside the river. Downtown is close. The Basque Block is compact. The foothills are visible from the city. And the airport isn't far away.

That means you can allow SIRCNA XXXVIII to remain the center of the trip.

Attend the convention. Walk along the river. Have a meal with people from the fellowship. Explore downtown for a couple of hours. Maybe take one scenic outing if you have the time.

A good convention trip doesn't have to become a sightseeing competition.

If You Have an Extra Day

An extra day gives you more room to see Boise without squeezing activities between convention sessions.

You could walk or bike more of the Greenbelt, spend time downtown and on the Basque Block, explore Boise's museums, or head toward the foothills if conditions are suitable.

And because the Riverside is directly on the river, you can also choose to do very little at all.

Sometimes an extra morning, a quiet walk and a slower trip home are enough.
