OKRCNA XLI Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, March 19–21, 2027: While You're in Town NA Travel Guide

The Oklahoma Region Convention of Narcotics Anonymous XLI (OKRCNA XLI) is scheduled for March 19–21, 2027, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The official Oklahoma Region of Narcotics Anonymous convention page confirms the event at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Oklahoma City Northwest, 3233 Northwest Expressway.

Oklahoma City gives convention travelers plenty to work with without requiring an overloaded schedule. Bricktown, downtown museums, Scissortail Park, Western heritage attractions and a broad restaurant scene can all be worked around convention time, while OKC's road network makes the farther-out venue manageable for travelers with a vehicle.

Getting to Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City is easy to reach by road, sitting at the intersection of Interstates 35, 40 and 44. Visit OKC also notes that Will Rogers International Airport provides nonstop service to numerous U.S. destinations, while Amtrak's Heartland Flyer connects Oklahoma City with Fort Worth.

The convention hotel is on Northwest Expressway rather than downtown, so a rental car or rideshare will generally make sightseeing easier. The property is roughly northwest of the central business district and provides convenient road access to several parts of the city.

One detail worth knowing before entering the hotel address into your GPS: the official Oklahoma Region event page currently lists ZIP code 73115, while Oklahoma's official tourism site and hotel materials identify the Embassy Suites address as 3233 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. The street address and hotel are consistent; use the hotel name or 73112 when navigating.

Spend a Few Hours in Bricktown

If you want one area that combines sightseeing, food and walking, Bricktown is a practical choice.

This former warehouse district on the eastern edge of downtown is now filled with restaurants, entertainment and attractions centered around the Bricktown Canal. Visitors can walk along the canal, see public art, explore nearby streets or simply stop somewhere for a meal.

Because Bricktown is compact once you arrive, it works well during a convention trip. Park once, explore on foot and head back to OKRCNA when you're ready.

Walk Along the Bricktown Canal

The Bricktown Canal gives the district a calmer side away from some of its busier entertainment spots.

Visit OKC describes the canal as a mile-long corridor below street level, with paths, murals and views toward downtown. The area also connects with the Oklahoma City Streetcar, which serves downtown, Bricktown, Automobile Alley and Midtown.

For a recovery-centered weekend, a canal walk can be a good low-pressure outing: no complicated schedule, no long drive once you're downtown and plenty of places nearby to stop for food or coffee.

Visit Scissortail Park

For some open space near downtown, Scissortail Park is one of Oklahoma City's strongest options.

The 70-acre park includes landscaped gardens, walking paths, a lake, picnic areas, recreational spaces and a large lawn. Visit OKC notes that it is served by the Oklahoma City Streetcar and can also be reached by walking, biking or rideshare from other central-city areas.

You do not need to spend half a day here. Even an hour walking around the upper park can provide a good break from hotel meeting rooms and convention activity.

See Oklahoma City's Western Heritage

Oklahoma City's identity is strongly tied to the American West, and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is one of the city's major cultural attractions.

The museum presents art, artifacts and exhibits connected with cowboy culture, rodeo history, Native cultures, frontier life and the broader American West.

Because the museum is not in the immediate downtown core, give yourself a larger block of time if you want to visit rather than trying to squeeze it between short convention sessions.

Make Time for the Oklahoma City National Memorial

One of Oklahoma City's most significant places is the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, which commemorates the victims, survivors and rescuers connected with the April 19, 1995 bombing.

If you include it in your trip, treat it as a meaningful stop rather than another attraction to rush through. It is located downtown, so it can be combined geographically with Bricktown, Midtown or other central-city activities.

Find Food Close to Wherever You Are

Oklahoma City has developed a wide-ranging food scene spread across several districts.

Bricktown concentrates restaurants in one walkable area, while Midtown, the Asian District and other neighborhoods offer very different choices. Visit OKC specifically highlights its collection of distinct districts as part of the city's visitor experience.

For convention weekend, the easiest approach may be to choose meals based on your sightseeing rather than driving somewhere else solely for food.

If you're already downtown, eat downtown. If you're staying near Northwest Expressway, keep one or two meals close to the hotel and save a longer restaurant outing for when you're exploring another district.

March Weather Can Change Quickly

Mid-March is spring in Oklahoma, but that does not mean predictable weather.

Visit OKC specifically advises visitors to stay weather-aware because thunderstorms can occur in spring and early summer. Public buildings and major attractions generally have established severe-weather procedures.

For OKRCNA weekend, pack layers, comfortable walking shoes and something that can handle rain or wind. Check the forecast shortly before leaving rather than assuming early spring will be warm.

Oklahoma weather can shift significantly over a short period, so flexibility is more useful than packing for one specific temperature.

Getting Around Downtown

Once you're downtown, the Oklahoma City Streetcar can make sightseeing easier. The 4.7-mile system connects downtown hotels, restaurants and attractions through Downtown, Bricktown, Automobile Alley and Midtown.

That can help reduce the need to move your car every few blocks.

Because the convention hotel itself is outside the streetcar loop, the practical approach is usually to drive or rideshare downtown once, then walk or use the streetcar for the rest of that outing.

Keep the Convention at the Center of the Trip

Oklahoma City has enough to fill several days, but there is no reason to try to cover all of it during OKRCNA XLI.

Pick one or two things that genuinely interest you.

Spend a few hours downtown. Walk Bricktown. Visit a museum. Eat somewhere with friends. Take a little time outside at Scissortail Park.

Then head back to the convention.

The best use of a destination guide isn't to turn recovery travel into an exhausting checklist. It's to make it easier to enjoy the place you're already visiting while leaving plenty of room for meetings, fellowship and the conversations that happen between scheduled activities.

If You Have an Extra Day

An extra day gives you more breathing room for Oklahoma City's larger attractions.

You could spend additional time downtown, visit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, explore more of the city's distinct neighborhoods or simply slow down and enjoy a longer meal or walk before heading home.

Oklahoma City's size means there's always something else you could add. You don't need to add everything.
