The New England Regional Convention of Narcotics Anonymous XXI (NERCNA XXI) is scheduled for March 5–7, 2027, in Danvers, Massachusetts. The official Greater Providence Area of Narcotics Anonymous event listing confirms the convention at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston North Shore, 50 Ferncroft Road, Danvers, MA 01923. GPANA
Danvers gives convention travelers a practical North Shore base only about five miles from historic Salem and roughly 19 miles from central Boston. That makes it possible to combine the convention with New England history, coastal scenery and short Salem outings without turning the weekend into a Boston sightseeing marathon. Hilton
Getting to Danvers
For travelers flying in, Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is the major airport serving the area. Hilton places Logan about 18 miles from the convention hotel. The property does not offer an airport shuttle, so a rental car, taxi or rideshare is the most straightforward option. Hilton
A car is useful on the North Shore because Danvers, Salem, Beverly and Gloucester are separate communities rather than one dense urban core.
If you're arriving by rail through Boston, you can also use MBTA commuter rail for parts of the trip, particularly if you want to explore Salem without driving into its downtown. Destination Salem notes that commuter rail connects Salem with Boston's North Station, Newburyport, Rockport and Gloucester. Destination Salem
Start With Salem
If you have only one larger sightseeing window during NERCNA XXI, Salem is the obvious choice.
Historic Salem is only about five miles from the convention hotel, according to Hilton. Hilton
Destination Salem describes the city as a combination of maritime history, colonial architecture, museums, literary connections and the history surrounding the 1692 witch trials. Destination Salem
For a convention weekend, don't try to see everything. Pick a few streets or one museum, get something to eat and head back when you're ready.
Walk Through Historic Salem
Salem works especially well on foot once you reach the downtown area.
The city's historic streets include old homes, churches, museums, harbor areas and public spaces within a compact radius. March is also a quieter month than Salem's famously busy October season.
Destination Salem specifically recommends March for walking tours and exploring the city on foot as the weather begins to moderate. Destination Salem
Explore Salem's Maritime Side
Salem is not only about witch-trial history.
Its waterfront reflects centuries of maritime trade and New England seafaring, and the city's tourism office emphasizes ocean ships and maritime history as central parts of Salem's identity. Destination Salem
A harbor-area walk can be a good choice if you want something calmer than a museum-heavy afternoon.
Visit the Rebecca Nurse Homestead
For an outing even closer to the convention, consider the Rebecca Nurse Homestead in Danvers.
Destination Salem includes the historic property among its recommended North Shore regional attractions and places it at 149 Pine Street in Danvers. Destination Salem
This can be a particularly useful option if you want to experience local colonial history without driving into Salem itself.
Head Toward the Coast if You Have More Time
The Massachusetts North Shore extends beyond Salem.
Destination Salem highlights nearby communities including Beverly and Gloucester for historic homes, museums, coastal scenery and other regional attractions. Destination Salem
Those trips make more sense if you have an extra half day or full day rather than squeezing them between convention sessions.
For the main weekend, staying near Danvers and Salem will keep things simpler.
March Is Still New England Winter
Early March may hint at spring, but it is still cold.
Destination Salem lists average March temperatures around 47°F during the day and 30°F at night. Destination Salem
Pack a warm coat, layers and shoes that can handle rain, slush or leftover snow.
If the weather is mild, walking through Salem can be comfortable. If a storm moves through, shift toward museums, restaurants and indoor attractions rather than forcing an outdoor itinerary.
Eat Near the Convention or Make Salem the Meal Outing
The DoubleTree has on-site dining, including TradeWinds Restaurant and Lounge, which gives you an easy option when convention activities are busy. Hilton
If you are already heading to Salem, make dinner part of that outing instead of creating a separate trip.
Shared meals with other members are often one of the easiest ways to experience a destination while keeping fellowship at the center.
Don't Feel Like You Need to Add Boston
Boston is only about 19 miles away from the convention hotel, but that doesn't mean you need to fit it into NERCNA weekend. Hilton
Salem and the North Shore already give you enough history, food and scenery for a three-day convention trip.
If Boston is important to you, it makes more sense as a pre- or post-convention extension rather than something squeezed between meetings.
Keep Recovery at the Center
NERCNA XXI already gives you a full weekend.
A simple trip might include Salem, one historic site in Danvers, a good New England meal and a little time exploring the North Shore.
That still leaves plenty of room for meetings, speakers, fellowship and the reason everyone is gathering in the first place.
If You Have an Extra Day
An extra day opens up more of the North Shore.
You could spend longer in Salem, continue toward Beverly or Gloucester, explore more coastal history or take the commuter rail into Boston. Destination Salem specifically promotes the surrounding North Shore as an easy extension of a Salem trip. Destination Salem
