NACNA XXIII Melville, New York, January 15–17, 2027: While You’re in Town NA Travel Guide

The Nassau Area Convention XXIII — NACNA XXIII comes to Melville, New York, January 15–17, 2027, at the Hilton Long Island/Huntington. The official NACNA website confirms the convention weekend on Long Island and identifies the Hilton as the host hotel.

Melville sits in western Suffolk County, giving convention visitors access to Huntington, Long Island Rail Road connections, local restaurants and several North Shore destinations without needing to make Manhattan the center of the trip.

Keep the Weekend Close to the Hotel

The Hilton Long Island/Huntington sits near major Long Island roadways, making it a practical base for a convention weekend.

If most of your time will be spent at NACNA, there is no need to overbuild the trip.

Stay close.

Get some rest.

Use nearby restaurants and shopping when you need them.

Then explore Huntington or another part of Long Island only when you actually have a few hours.

Spend Some Time in Huntington

Huntington is one of the best nearby places to explore.

The village has restaurants, cafés, shops and a walkable downtown area that gives you more of a classic Long Island town-center feel than the office and hotel corridors around Melville.

For a convention weekend, this works well because you can keep it simple.

Get something to eat.

Walk around.

Spend an hour away from the hotel.

Then head back.

Visit Heckscher Park

Heckscher Park sits near downtown Huntington and offers a quieter place to walk.

The park includes ponds, paths and open green space, making it useful if you want some fresh air without planning a major outing.

In January, this is more about a short walk than spending the afternoon outside.

Bring a warm coat and keep it easy.

Explore the North Shore

Long Island’s North Shore has a very different feel from New York City.

Historic towns, harbors and residential communities line the coast west and east of Huntington.

If you extend the trip, a short drive through the area can be worthwhile without needing a formal itinerary.

The shoreline in winter has a quieter atmosphere than during summer, which can make the drive feel less crowded and more relaxed.

Consider Cold Spring Harbor

Cold Spring Harbor is a small waterfront community west of Huntington and one of the easiest North Shore side trips from Melville.

The village has harbor views, local businesses and a historic New England-style feel.

If you only have a couple of hours, this can be more manageable than trying to make a much larger New York City excursion.

Getting Into New York City

Manhattan is certainly reachable from Long Island, but it is not necessarily the best use of a short convention break.

The Long Island Rail Road provides service from western and central Long Island toward New York City, with several stations in the Huntington area.

If you add an extra day before or after NACNA, then a city trip becomes much more practical.

Trying to squeeze Manhattan into a small gap between convention sessions can easily turn into more transportation than sightseeing.

Getting to Melville

Melville is most practical by car.

Travelers flying in may use John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport or Long Island MacArthur Airport, depending on flight options and where they are coming from.

Long Island MacArthur is smaller and farther east, while JFK and LaGuardia offer far more flight choices.

A rental car gives you the most flexibility for the final trip to Melville and for exploring Huntington or nearby North Shore communities.

Expect January Weather

January on Long Island is winter.

Expect cold temperatures.

Rain, sleet or snow are all possible.

Bring a real winter coat, gloves and footwear that can handle wet or icy conditions.

If the weather turns unpleasant, keeping the weekend mostly at the hotel is not a bad plan.

Indoor dining, shopping and convention activities make it easy to stay comfortable without forcing sightseeing.

Let NACNA Be the Reason for the Trip

Long Island gives you plenty to explore.

There are coastal towns.

Historic communities.

New York City is within reach.

But NACNA XXIII is the reason for the weekend.

Spend time with the fellowship.

Go to meetings.

Listen to speakers.

Reconnect with people.

Then, if you have room in the schedule, spend a little time in Huntington or along the North Shore.

That is enough.
