Cincinnati skyline and Roebling Suspension Bridge over the Ohio River

GCACNA 27 Cincinnati, Ohio, November 27–29, 2026: While You’re in Town NA Travel Guide

The GCACNA 27 — “Thanks for the Miracle” convention comes to Cincinnati, Ohio, November 27–29, 2026, at the Holiday Inn & Suites Cincinnati-Eastgate, 4501 Eastgate Boulevard. The Greater Cincinnati Area Service Committee of Narcotics Anonymous currently includes the GCACNA 27 convention materials on its official site. NACincinnati

The Eastgate location puts the convention outside downtown Cincinnati, making the hotel a practical home base while still leaving plenty of options for exploring the riverfront, museums and historic neighborhoods if you have some extra time.

Keep the Convention Weekend Simple

The Holiday Inn & Suites Cincinnati-Eastgate sits just off I-275 and offers complimentary parking. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shopping, so you do not need to drive downtown every time you want food or supplies. IHG Hotels & Resorts

That can be especially useful over Thanksgiving weekend.

Spend time at the convention.

Get some rest.

Keep the errands easy.

Then explore Cincinnati when you actually have room in the schedule.

Walk the Cincinnati Riverfront

If you have a few hours, downtown Cincinnati’s Ohio River waterfront is one of the easiest places to start.

Smale Riverfront Park sits between downtown and the river, with walking paths, skyline views and the historic Roebling Suspension Bridge nearby. The surrounding Banks district connects the park with restaurants and several major Cincinnati landmarks.

Visit Cincy’s downtown guide describes the central city as compact and walkable, with the riverfront forming one of its main recreation areas. Visit Cincy

For a convention weekend, a river walk may be all you need.

Cross the Roebling Suspension Bridge

The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge crosses the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington, Kentucky.

Walking across gives you broad views of the Cincinnati skyline and lets you experience both sides of the river without needing another attraction or reservation.

It also fits naturally with a walk through Smale Riverfront Park and The Banks.

You can spend an hour outside, see one of the city’s defining landmarks and get back to the convention without turning the outing into an all-day trip.

Explore Fountain Square

Fountain Square sits in the heart of downtown Cincinnati and is one of the city’s traditional gathering places.

During the colder months, the square often hosts seasonal activities and holiday programming. Thanksgiving weekend is also when Cincinnati begins shifting fully into its holiday season. Visit Cincy

If you are already downtown, it is an easy addition to a riverfront walk.

Ride the Free Cincinnati Connector

If you want to see more of downtown without repeatedly moving the car, the Cincinnati Connector streetcar runs a free 3.6-mile loop connecting the riverfront, downtown and Over-the-Rhine.

The route serves The Banks, Fountain Square and several of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods. Visit Cincy’s Connector guide provides the current route and operating information. Visit Cincy

For a short convention trip, that can be much easier than figuring out parking at every stop.

Spend Some Time in Over-the-Rhine

Over-the-Rhine, usually shortened to OTR, sits immediately north of downtown and is one of Cincinnati’s best-known historic neighborhoods.

The area has restored architecture, restaurants, shops and Washington Park, all accessible from the downtown streetcar.

You do not need a detailed plan.

Walk around.

Get something to eat.

See a little of the neighborhood.

Then ride back downtown.

Visit Cincinnati Museum Center

If the late-November weather turns cold or rainy, the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal is one of the strongest indoor options in the city.

The historic Art Deco railroad terminal houses multiple museum experiences and is one of the area attractions highlighted by the Eastgate convention hotel. IHG Hotels & Resorts

This makes more sense if you have several free hours before or after the convention than during a short break between sessions.

Remember That This Is Thanksgiving Weekend

GCACNA 27 runs from the Friday through Sunday immediately following Thanksgiving.

That means roads, airports and other transportation may be busier than during a normal November weekend.

Cincinnati also has holiday events underway by this point in the month, including seasonal activities downtown and along the riverfront. Visit Cincy

Give yourself extra travel time, especially on Friday and Sunday.

The goal is to arrive without making the transportation part of the weekend more stressful than it needs to be.

Expect Cool Late-November Weather

Late November in Cincinnati can range from mild fall weather to genuinely cold conditions.

Bring layers.

Bring a warm jacket.

A waterproof outer layer is useful too.

If the weather cooperates, the riverfront and downtown are easy to enjoy on foot. If it does not, museums, restaurants and other indoor options make it simple to change plans.

Let Cincinnati Fit Around the Convention

Cincinnati gives you plenty to explore.

There is the river.

Historic neighborhoods.

Museums.

Food.

Two states within walking distance of each other.

But GCACNA 27 is the reason for the trip.

Spend time with the fellowship.

Go to meetings.

Listen to speakers.

Reconnect with people.

Then, when you have a little room in the schedule, walk along the Ohio River, ride the streetcar or spend a couple of hours downtown.

That is enough.
